| From December 2009....... The Internet is rich with the ability for any student of astrology to Google say, “Mars Retrograde in Leo” (which is what we are currently experiencing) and retrieve instantly some wonderful resources to explore the depth of its meaning. But right now, less than a week after a powerful Full Blue Moon Eclipse on New Year’s Eve, how does it really FEEL? Perhaps it feels like the wind got knocked out of whatever sails you may have had strength to raise on your holiday boat that set sail about the time Mars started to move backwards in the sky (December 20th). Mars retrograde occurs about every 2 years and lasts for several months. It’s a time to “put down swords” – real, imagined or symbolic. Perhaps in defeat, exhaustion or just to take stock. And when the warrior in you (represented by Mars in your chart) rests, it is also a time to examine where do you go to find inner peace? Where is the place your inner warrior feels protected and trustful that “someone else” is on guard, for a change. Mars is currently in the sign of Leo, the lion. I was just writing this when I received a series of exquisite images of a ranger in the wildlife refuge area of Lanseria, South Africa. The way the lions interact with him is as if they know he is there to protect them and keep them safe. They are in total, blissful surrender! http://ckthisout.com/featured/1008south-african-ranger-lion-talker So take this time to drift into the inner space of safety, until Mercury (now also retrograde) goes direct a few hours after the New Moon on January 15th. This is the most delicate and delicious time in your being’s awakening to learn what it is physically, mentally and emotionally to just “give up.” Just let go. And if you resist, see where the excuses take you as they are the keys to your intentions for the New Moon January 15th at 2:11 am – just shy of 10 hours before Mercury goes direct at 11:52 am. The Sun will be eclipsed [visible in Africa, India and SE Asia—home of the lions!], so the deeper you go now, the stronger the inner illuminations you’ll have to share when Mercury does go direct. However anxious or shy you may be to act on those intentions, the real “gemstone” of this time is in seeing before acting, as Mars will hold you back until it goes direct on March 10th, just before Spring Equinox. This is a time to allow your mind, heart (Leo) and body to explore personal depths with long, restful journeys to reacquaint you with your soul. |

| March 1, 2010 Yesterday¹s Full Moon in Virgo hit a strong note in our psyche and asked us to look out and beyond the shadows. With Mars falling backwards in the sky, weighted down by dramatic storms, we've had to find courage to look deeply within. Virgo Moon shows us the truth of ourselves and the opposites we embody so we can embrace our "whole" selves. If you've been waiting around for things to start moving and have not been able to surrender and hibernate, these next few days as 5 planets hold the sleepy energy of Pisces might give you the drowsies. Mercury, Jupiter, Sun, Venus and Uranus are all sliding around in Pisces so just take a long hot bath, roll under the blankets and let your conscious be your guide. After March 7th, when Venus jumps into Aries, some delicious sparks will start the fires going. There is going to be a strong activation of Solar fire once Mars goes direct March 10th at zero degrees Leo. Get ready to go as vital energies will be mobilized! Use the first 10 days of the month to rest up, dream well and lay the strong emotional foundation for realizing the big changes you are really going to will into place come Spring. |
