Haitian Relief Efforts! Help for Haiti.....
Many of us have already been moved to help those affected by the Haitian Earthquake and aftermath. I would like to thank all those who have reached out to offer their help and services to have a fundraiser. When Hurricane Katrina hit, our Good Vibrations community came to action and our fundraiser was immensely successful. Now, we have the opportunity to get needed supplies to Haiti. Unfortunately, putting a fundraiser together has proved to be a bit overwhelming when time is of the essence.
The Village of Suffern (along with the Ramapo Haitian Task Force) has secured a 40 ft. shipping container to fill with needed supplies to send to Haiti as soon as it is filled. The sooner we fill it, the sooner the supplies can get to Haiti. All monies and supplies will go directly to those affected in Haiti. So, in the effort to move quickly, we have opted not to have a fund-raising event and to appeal to our community to bring supplies and money for this effort.
The following items can be donated and brought to the container at the rear of Suffern Village Hall, 61 Washington Avenue, from 8am to 8pm until the container is full:
Canned food Can openers Bottled water Band aids Gauze Alcohol, Alcohol Preps Betadyne Tape (silk, paper, etc) Slings Pain relievers, such as Motrin, Aleve, & Aspirin Bacitracin Ointment Syringes and needles Peroxide IV Fluids, Normal Saline Tetanus Vaccines Rubber Gloves Hand Sanitizer Soap Paper Towels Diapers Pedialite Imodium for diarrhea Baby Food Neosporin Aid Ointment Masks Crutches Iodine solutions, Hydrogen peroxide solutions Topical antibiotics, (Bactroban, Altabax etc.) Antibiotics (Penicillin, Keflex, Augmentin, Avelox, Cipro etc..) Analgesics (Dilaudid, Toradol etc.)
We are NOT seeking clothing donations at this time
We're also asking for monetary donations to help pay for the cost of shipping the container to Haiti. Please make checks payable to the Ramapo Haitian Relief Task Force. All money gathered in excess of the shipping costs will go directly to relief efforts.
For more information or to volunteer, feel free to contact Randy Ortiz, the Suffern Co-ordinator, at 845-481-0509.
Please forward this email to anyone you think would like to participate.
Thank you!
